The shapes and colours of the plants look stunning, as if someone has created them with an aesthetic sense. I create my work based on my daily observations of nature out of a curiosity to know how living organisms shape their own bodies and the natural order of things.
The work begins with the collection of natural objects, which are shaped, and resin molded to form specimens, which are then replicated and reconstructed into 'living things' that are different from the base organisms. The creation of this non-existent 'living thing' is not simply the creation of an imaginary creature, but a dialogue with nature to explore the universality of the forms that nature creates and to reveal the fundamental forms of life.
The "living things", which are the condensed and shaped forms of nature, not only reflect the local characteristics of the area where they were collected, but also contain memories that cannot be created by human hands, making them somehow feel lifelike.

YOD Gallery was established in 2008 with a mission to present a new sense of value and expression to and from Japan. It has been supporting local art scenes and emerging artists with new media, including video, photography, installation and others. It represents works sparing no effort or time in expression, which comprise Japanese aesthetic beauty, with a substantial concept and important messages to out modern society behind itself. It also supports overseas artists to stay at our artist residency, providing opportunities for them to experience the unique environment in Osaka city where tradition and leading-edge technologies and culture coexist.
