I have pursued my creative practice guided by Clement Greenberg’s definition that "a painting is paint applied to a support." My core process involves applying layers of paint onto wooden panels and then carving into them. However, a fundamental question fuels my work: can a piece still be defined as a "painting" if the support itself is changed?
Where does the boundary of painting lie?
Unlike a flat surface, a three-dimensional object cannot be perceived in its entirety at a single glance. In my upcoming work, I aim to create a space that incorporates these multifaceted elements: "Front and Back,""Inside and Outside," and "Negative and Positive."

AIN SOPH DISPATCH
Opened in 2006 as Nagoya's premium gallery. We hold more than eight exhibitions annually and feature great pieces of artwork by various artists every time. We also pro-actively seek young emerging artists as well as independent artists and help bridge the gap between them and dealers, buyers and collectors at our own space or by participating in art trade shows and expos. Our motto is to offer these talented artists an opportunity to step into the spotlight and be more recognized than ever before.
